Bios

Dr. Wayne Hinton  --  Music Director, Keyboards

     For over 20 years, our music director Dr. Wayne Hinton has pursued an active career in arts administration, in addition to working as a vocal coach and recital pianist in chamber music, opera, and song repertoire. He currently serves as Executive Director for Pacific Serenades.
     After finishing his undergraduate studies in piano with honors at Florida State University, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna. He was also a scholarship student at the Institute of Advanced Musical Studies in Montreux, Switzerland. In this innovative school he performed in Master Classes of such great artists as Gregor Piatigorsky, Zino Francescatti, composer Alberto Ginastera, and pianists Ania Dorfmann and John Ogdon. Hinton returned to the U.S. to work in New York City as assistant to Arthur Cohn at Carl Fischer, Inc., one of the country’s largest music publishers. Later, he ran very successful season ticket sales campaigns for the Houston Ballet, the Houston Grand Opera and the Alley Theater, and was marketing director for Orlando Opera and Southern Ballet Theater.
     In 1997, Hinton finished his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Collaborative Piano at USC under the direction of Dr. Alan Smith. After finishing his degree, Dr. Hinton worked as a music editor for film and television and was assistant music director of Orange County Opera and Golden West Opera. Dr. Hinton was the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony and the General Manager of the Nimoy Concert Series of Temple Israel of Hollywood. He then served as Executive Director of the Riverside County Philharmonic. Click here to hear music performed by Wayne.

        Ricky Cosentino  -- Lead vocals, percussion

   This incredibly soulful singer is from Omaha, Nebraska.  A talented drummer, excellent vocalist and energetic performer, Ricky has toured all over the world performing with War, Ambrosia, Gary Wright, The Commodores, and Earth, Wind and Fire to name a few.  He is also a successful songwriter composing jingles and songs for movies and television.  His work has been featured on MTV, VH1, CNN and The Today Show.

       

        Tim Kobza  --  Vocals, Lead and Rhythm Guitar

     Tim is a multi-talented and respected guitarist, composer/producer and educator.  He has a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of North Texas in Jazz Guitar and a Master's Degree in Studio-Jazz Guitar Performance from USC.  Tim has taught in the USC Studio Jazz Guitar Department since 1995 and has numerous TV/Film credits including: CBS, Steven Spielberg, Felicity, Queer Eye for The Straight Guy, The Bold and the Beautiful, All My Children, 48 Hours, Ed and many more.  He was the film composer for "Angels With Angels" a feature film starring Rodney Dangerfield and Frank Gorshen (Warner.)  His performance and recording credits include: Jon B, Steven Perkins (the drummer for Jane's Addiction,) Jimmy Haslip, Keller Williams, Korrupt, James Torme, Branscumb Richmond and the Renegade Posse, Barry Williams, Leif Garrett, Deborah Gibson, song writers Marylyn and Allen Bergman ("The Way We Were") and the jam band Modereko which he cofounded with John Molo (Drummer Phil and Friends, John Fogerty.)  His publishing credits include: "Blues Guitar Lessons Volume 3" Alfred Publishing. 

 

      The Choir

The Chancel Choir sings each Sunday, providing inspiring music in worship. they also provide special music programs several times a year. Rehearsals are Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and immediately after church at 11:30 a.m.  Dr. Wayne Hinton is the extremely capable Director of Music for CVUMC.
